We’re checking out some big time collisions out on the ice that fortunately have nothing to do with driving around in the wintertime. Nope – we’re in Greenville. And this is Swamp Rabbits Hockey!
The Greenville Swamp Rabbits got their start here at the Bon Secours Wellness Arena back in 2010. At that time they were known as the Greenville Road Warriors. In 2015 they officially rebranded as the Swamp Rabbits – a name change that more closely aligned the team with the city. We’ve even done a previous show on the famous Swamp Rabbit Trail. And today this town known for its sweltering summers can’t get enough of the coolest sport on ice.
It’s fun, fast-paced, and entertaining as all get out. This team is an affiliate of the LA Kings. So, similar to minor league baseball – you could see some of these players lacing them up for NHL action in the near future. Swamp Rabbits hockey is a great way to get introduced to the game and have a fantastic night out.
And fun is the name of the game here. Yes, the action on the ice is amazing. But the fun in the stands and around the arena is not to be missed. These guys put on a great show – with first-class food offerings and plenty of Swamp Rabbits swag to take home. And you might just catch on to some of the lingo.
So the next time you hear someone say the hoser deked out a grinder and put the biscuit in the basket with a bar down and lit the lamp on an absolute laser that he sniped in over the waffle… you might stand half a chance of knowing what the heck they’re talking about.
But just know that you’re gonna leave with more than the odd souvenir and raspy voice. You’ll go home with some great memories of a fantastic experience. And if you’re not one walking in, you might just walk out a hockey fan.
