Located at the far eastern reaches of Ingles country, the Farmington community is about halfway between Statesville and Winston-Salem in the town of Mocksville. And here in this quaint corner of the Piedmont nestled amongst farm fields and towering trees is this delightful historic building that plays host to an equally delightful experience.
The Johnson House was built in1892 as a wedding present from husband to wife. One of the children who grew up here was Vada Johnson, a beloved member of the community who taught at the Farmington School for 50 years. And during her time here this house became a center for social life – as she welcomed her students and their families for Easter egg hunts, Christmas parties, and more.
Today that tradition of hospitality lives on. Designed in the style of what you might find in the English countryside, the tea room and bakery features several indoor and outdoor rooms where you can experience a beautiful and peaceful high tea – scones and crumpets included.
Everything here is made from scratch in house. And many of the herbs used in the recipes are grown right here in the garden. Each and every item is delicious, and while you feel relaxed and at ease for sure – you also feel a little fancy.
The beautiful rooms, China, and food all combine to create a sense of calm and enjoyment. And when your tea is complete and you are ready to make your way back to the real world, a couple more delights await before you make your exit. The bake shop is filled with goodies you are definitely going to want to take home. And the gardens are divine.
